The Council of Elrond:
Strangers from distant lands, friends of old... You have been summoned here to answer the threat of Mordor. Middle-earth stands upon the brink of destruction. None can escape it. You will unite, or you will fall. Each race is bound this fate, this one doom.
Bring forth the Ring, Frodo.
You have only one choice. The Ring must be destroyed.
The Ring cannot be destroyed, Gimli, son of Gloin, by any craft that we here possess. The Ring was made in the fires of Mount Doom. Only there can it be unmade. It must be taken deep into Mordor, and cast back into the fiery chasm from whence it came. One of you must do this.
Nine companions. So be it! You shall be the Fellowship of the Ring.
The Extended Edition
The Council of Elrond:
Never before has any voice uttered the words of that tongue here in Imladris.
Gilraen's Memorial:
Anirne hene beriad i chên lîn. Ned Imladris nauthant e le beriathar aen. (Translation: 'She wanted to protect her child. She thought in Rivendell you would be safe.') In her heart your Mother knew you'd be hunted all your life, that you'd never escape your fate. The skill of the Elves can reforge the sword of kings but only you have the power to wield it.
You are the last of that bloodline, there is no other.
The Departure of the Fellowship:
The Ringbearer is setting out on the Quest of Mount Doom. On you who travel with him, no oath nor bond is laid to go further than you will. Farewell. Hold to your purpose. May the blessings of Elves and Men and all Free Folk go with you.
